What Can I Expect in an Assessment?
Assessments typically take one day to complete. Children and their parents are invited to Dr. Williams’s clinic where a brief overview of the day is discussed and the child/youth is invited to begin the different activities with one of Dr. William’s trained assistants. Dr. Williams then meets with parents for an interview to discuss the child’s developmental history and current concerns. Later in the day, Dr. Williams completes activities with the child/youth and has a wrap-up interview to discuss the youth’s perspective on the issues as well as their perception of how the day went for them.
Following the assessment, all test results, questionnaire ratings, and interview information are summarized in a formal report with a detailed formulation of the child’s neurocognitive profile of strengths and areas of needs. Recommendations are given customized to fit with the unique child/youth’s needs.
A feedback appointment is typically scheduled in two weeks time to discuss the results and distribute the report to the family.
